January 1, 2008
Dear Pilots and Crew,
The 2008 LTA Colorado Safety Seminar Committee
invites you to attend a one day
Safety Seminar on Saturday, March 8,
2008, again being held at the Sheraton DTC Hotel located just south of
Arapahoe and I25 on Clinton St. Please see the attached map.
The cost for each attendee is $55.00 for pilots and
$40.00 for crew through February 11, 2008.
After February 11th, the registration fee will be $65.00/pilot
and $45.00/crew. Registrations will only be accepted after February 26th
if you call Barb Hann at (303) 841-4266. Check-in is from 7:00 a.m. to 7:45
a.m. The seminar will run from 7:45
a.m. - 5:30 p.m. We have a very full
day planned so please be punctual.
Confirmations regarding your attendance will be posted on our web site http://www.LTAsafetyseminar.com. If you must cancel, you must give notice by February 26th
to receive a refund.
The Colorado LTA Safety Seminar will be BFA
sanctioned. Each year our committee strives to include the crew in our programs
since pilots understand the crew’s importance to flying. We believe that our
2008 program lends itself strongly to both crew and pilot and we encourage all
pilots to bring their crew.
The Committee members are excited to be able to
bring you the wide variety of speakers for 2008. Just to name a few:
·
Don Day from Dayweather will teach
us how to circumnavigate the tedious flight service process and retrieve our
own on-line accurate weather data;
·
Our
own Frank Kafka will present on the
safety issue of aging and ballooning;
·
Tim Cole will offer a Steve Fossett
retrospective and discuss his current project with Troy Bradley and Peter
Cuneo’s World Record Gas Balloon Flight from Japan to the USA (www.pacificballoon.com);
·
A
member of Alpine Rescue will present
on what to do (and what not to do) if faced with a remote retrieval;
·
And our keynote, Richard Abruzzo,
will talk about his gas balloon excursions and including his gas balloon
accident (one of the first times he has publicly done so.)
All of these programs are sure to inform as well as
amuse. A buffet will be provided as
well as a variety of snacks throughout the day. Won’t you join us for a terrific, safety-filled day? We promise “All safety…no bull!”
We’ll see you in March.
